The Country Road Cafe

For those of you who don’t know, Donna is an amazing cook and baker. Every summer she goes to all the local campgrounds and sells baked goods on weekends.  For a few years, they have been hoping to open the reception area as a small snack bar/bakery to help raise funds for the animals.  With Barry still not being 100% the decision was made that this was the year to move forward.  Now Donna will be able to bake at the rescue and help with tours but most importantly she can keep an eye on Barry.  The mad dash has been on the last month and with the help of the health unit, we are pleased to announce starting this weekend the snack bar will be open for business!

Over the next few weeks we will be adding a few more things to the menu but to give you an idea of what will be available

Fries, Onion Rings, Poutine, Nachos,
Vegetable Fried Rice, Egg rolls, Chow Mein, Vegetable Stir-Fry,
Wraps, Sandwiches, and Salads.

We will also have several flavours of hand-scooped Good Humor-Bryers Ice Cream

Smoothies and milkshakes, hot coffee, tea, pop, and bottled water also available.

Now for the baked goods, pies assorted tarts, cookies, brownies and more. Also if you have not had Donna’s chocolate butter tarts she will have these available at the snack bar they are a must-have for anyone who is a chocolate lover!

We are excited about this new endeavour and we hope that visitors will enjoy their tours this summer and stay for lunch.
